Connecticut Concurrent Care

Concurrent Care Announcements

In December 2010, the state of Connecticut put into effect the amendments made by Section 2302 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), titled “Concurrent Care for Children”, to immediately allow individuals under age 21 to elect for hospice care without a waiver of payment for the treatment of their terminal illness. In Connecticut, the HUSKY Health program encompasses Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which is important to consider as concurrent care is made available for clients covered by the HUSKY A plan until age 21, but only up until age 19 for HUSKY B clients. This change was announced through a policy transmittal and is listed as “PB 2010-45” and can be found on the Connecticut Department of Social Services site.
