Concurrent Care Announcements

In October 2013, the State of Georgia released a public notice titled, “Georgia Hospice Program and Pediatric Concurrent Care.” This informed the public and providers that the State Plan for hospice services would be amended to allow for coverage of pediatric curative care concurrent to hospice services, the elimination of certain diagnoses that warrant hospice benefits, and the requirement and physician face-to-face encounter for re-certification. The notice outlines the Affordable Care Act’s influence on pediatric palliative care and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) guidelines for diagnoses and re-certification. The notice may be accessed at this link and 2013_Georgia .
