Tennessee Concurrent Care

Last update: May 2024

Concurrent Care Announcements

In February 2013, the State of Tennessee updated its state Medicaid plan, TennCare, to clarify hospice benefits and identify specific obligations of the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) in relation to the payment of hospice-related care. The TennCare Policy Manual stipulates that TennCare will not pay for curative services, including payment for drugs relating to the treatment of the individual’s terminal illness, unless that individual is under the age of 21. This can be found on the first page of the policy manual under the discussion heading. The manual may be accessed at this link.
