Concurrent Care Announcements
In December of 2011, the Utah State Bulletin published a series of proposed rules, which included a provision to allow for concurrent care for clients under 21 years of age. The rule also included a section clarifying that Medicaid shall reimburse the appropriate Medicaid enrolled medical care providers directly through the customary billing processes. In addition, the rule indicated that each pediatric hospice provider should develop a training curriculum to ensure that the hospice’s interdisciplinary team members on trained on pediatric-specific practices which address growth and development, pediatric pain and symptom management, loss, grief, and bereavement for pediatric families and the child, communication, psycho-social and spiritual care of children, and coordination of care with the child’s community. In 2011, Utah also issued its Administrative Rule – R414-14A-10. Concurrent Care for Clients Under 21 Years of Age.
