Nursing students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the University of Virginia were recently provided with an overview of our research project “Effectiveness of concurrent care to improve pediatric and family outcomes at end of life.” The speakers included Dr. Lisa C. Lindley, Principle Investigator, who discussed the focus of the study and the use of Big Data and analytics. While presenting, Dr. Lindley explained the study question to the students: Is concurrent care for children more effective than standard hospice care at improving child and family outcomes in pediatric end of life care? This is a four year research study funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number R01NR017848.
