Pennsylvania Concurrent Care

Concurrent Care Announcements

In the past, our team encountered some difficulties in finding when the state of Pennsylvania had implemented concurrent care for children. In looking at the Pennsylvania Code, which was updated in December of 2015, section 1101.31 states that, “Recipients under 21 years of age are eligible for all medically necessary services.” However, the code does not specifically address this in relation to hospice, and concurrent care in hospice care for pediatric patients is not specifically addressed. We do have confirmation of the 2015 implementation year from several sources including the Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition-PA and the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization Pediatric Clinical Group. The code may be accessed at this link and at Undated_Pennsylvania.
