Concurrent Care Announcements
In 2012, the Wyoming Statute, Title 42 Welfare, Chapter 4 Medical Assistance and Services, Section 103 Authorized Services and supplies was altered to state that authorized services and supplies for medical assistance will include “(xxii) Services provided by an intermediate care facility as defined under 42 U.S.C. § 1396d(d).” 42 U.S.C. § 1396d(d) (o)(1)(c) states, “(C)A voluntary election to have payment made for hospice care for a child (as defined by the State) shall not constitute a waiver of any rights of the child to be provided with, or to have payment made under this sub-chapter for, services that are related to the treatment of the child’s condition for which a diagnosis of terminal illness has been made.” This indicates that in 2012, Wyoming had implemented concurrent hospice care for individuals under 21. The search for documentation proved to be difficult in making this conclusion, as our team was unable to find any provider updates, bulletins, or state amendments that specifically addressed pediatric hospice care. Additionally, some hospice websites required provider logins to access archived material, further straining the search for this information. The statute may be accessed at this link and at 2012_Wyoming.
