Iowa Concurrent Care

Concurrent Care Announcements

In January 2011, the state of Iowa, through the Iowa Department of Human Services and Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) created an informational letter that outlined the changes made to SSA sections 1905(o)(1) and 2110(a)(23) which allows terminally ill children to receive a blended package of curative and palliative services. The letter addresses both hospice providers and service providers and seeks to emphasize the importance of effective, coordinated communication, which should occur on a regular basis, convey pertinent patient information, and address any significant changes in the child’s physical, mental, social or emotional well-being. This was to be put into effect immediately. The letter can be found on the Iowa Department of Human Services site under Published Information Letters and is labeled as letter no. 981 using this link or at 2011_Iowa.
