Concurrent Care Announcements
Effective July 1, 2013, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Medical Assistance issued a State Plan Amendment (SPA) (Transmittal No. 13-007).
In June 2011, the State of North Carolina amended the NC Division of Medical Assistance Hospice Services policy manual by adding section 5.11 Concurrent Care for Children. This section mandated that Medicaid beneficiaries under 21 years of age, and NCHC beneficiaries between the ages of 6-18 would offer hospice services without requiring the waiver of any rights of the child to be provided with or to have payment made for services related to the cure or treatment of the child’s condition. The original 2011 manual is no longer available. However, the 2024 hospice provider manual listed below provides updated details issued since the original 2011 notification.
